HOPE Tool To Replace HIS As Soon As Oct 1

HOPE Tool To Replace HIS As Soon As Oct 1

Last night CMS posted its FY 2025 Hospice Proposed Rule.
I am working my way through it. Meanwhile, here's a copy for you.
Lots of requests for information about how hospice providers want CMS to implement higher payments for patient treatments for palliative chemotherapy, radiation, blood transfusions, and dialysis. A hot topic for sure.
Also, CMS asks for information about proposed quality items regarding Social Determinants of Health.
Don't miss this opportunity to tell CMS what you think.

Plus it talks about the long-awaited HOPE tool and implementing two new process measures to the tool that were recommended by a hospice Technical Expert Panel that finished its work last year. Here's an excerpt:

We propose that HOPE data collection would be on or after October 1, 2025 to support the proposed quality measures anticipated for public reporting on or after CY 2027. After HOPE implementation, hospices would no longer need to collect and submit the Hospice Item Set (HIS).

Check out the draft HOPE tool and the draft HOPE Guidance Manual at the bottom of the HOPE webpage here.

Enjoy your new bedside-table reading!

Be well. Oh, and happy Easter.
